Let’s face it—the rapid emergence of AI has many of us warily perusing job advertisements and wondering: "Could a robot do my job?" It’s a valid issue. I've been following tech trends for years, so I've seen firsthand how AI is changing the employment landscape. The reality is that while some jobs may be eliminated, others will change, and there will be new opportunities that we haven't even thought of yet.

We’ve all interacted with AI, whether through chatbots, self-checkout kiosks, or tools like ChatGPT. Some jobs are clearly in the crosshairs:

Do you recall spending hours manually entering data into a spreadsheet? These days, AI can scan and process documents in a matter of seconds. I recently met a clerk who retrained as a data analyst; instead of just entering numbers, her new work involves evaluating insights.

Here’s what I tell friends worried about AI:

1. Don’t compete with AI—collaborate
   Learn to use AI tools in your field. Marketers are leveraging ChatGPT for drafts, accountants use AI for data crunching, and designers employ AI for mockups.
2. Hone your human edge
   Skills like creative thinking, emotional intelligence, and adaptability will become more valuable as routine tasks get automated.
3. Stay curious
   The jobs of tomorrow might not exist today. Continuous learning is your best defense against obsolescence.

4  The Bottom Line

AI will, in fact, displace jobs, but it has in the past. Do you recall when bank tellers were expected to be replaced by ATMs? Rather, their responsibilities changed. The secret is to remain adaptable, never stop learning, and never forget that technology enhances human potential rather than completely replaces it.
